Covid-19 Information

A lot is happening right now, and we hope everyone is staying safe, at home. Ahead of a long weekend, BC Parks have decided to close all parks until May 31st. No trails in Kimberley are within Provincial Parks, but a few zones are Recreation and Site BC. As of April 8th, Rec Sites in our area remain open.  This includes Horse Barn Valley, Bootleg and the Lois Creek trail systems.  Until we hear differently from our local land manager, our local network of trails is still open for recreational. Everyone must continue following the guidelines of the provincial and national health ministers in regards to social distancing and safe recreation if we would like to continue utilizing these areas as a benefit to our health and wellness. Many areas have already been closed in parts of the province due to actions and behaviours that have the potential to accelerate the spread of COVID-19. We will keep updating our social and follow up with a map of the affected area if necessary.

  • Please do not meet groups of people at parking lots and trail entrances. Do not gather in groups on the trails.
  • Recreate and enjoy nature in areas close to home and avoid travelling to take part in these activities.
  • Avoid using parking if possible, or park a little further to avoid congestion. Busy parking lots have been the gathering and trigger points in many communities, which ended in closing the entire trail system.
  • Practice safe recreation by limiting the risks you take, letting others know where you are going and communicating expected return time.

Please, do your part, we have a chance to make a difference by staying home, so let's act smart, and only recreate when needed, with your household.
