The City of Kimberley and the Fire Department are working with the Province and Canfor to execute the fire interface plans in the Horse Barn Valley and Kimberley Nature Park. Trails in this area will be closed from Nov 1st 2020 until Spring 2021. One easy rule to follow: if the trail is closed, don't go!
Fuel Treatment
"The fuel treatment crews are back at work along the Lower Army Road, Romantic Ridge and Pat Morrow Trail. They will be dicing, piling and burning until there is too much snow to continue. Please obey any trail closure signs when tree falling is occurring. Sorry about the smoke, but it is a necessary part of the process." via KNC Facebook Page
Fire Interface
Our trail manager added the affected zones on Trailforks. Trails in the vicinity of these polygons will see closures over the winter, so please educate yourself before you head out and respect the signage that KNPS will have in place. Remember this work is critical for the safety of our forest and of our town. For more information, please read on Kimberley Nature Park website.
